July 2020

The Fremantle Foundation has been embracing a period of exciting change and a range of new initiatives whilst working hard to respond to new donor enquiries and support the Fremantle and WA community during the unprecedented times of the COVID19 pandemic.

New Executive Officer Appointed
At the end of July 2020, the Fremantle Foundation board and staff thanked founder Dylan Smith for his 10 years of service and hard work at the Fremantle Foundation.

I initially joined the Fremantle Foundation in October 2019 as the Operations & Donor Engagement Manager after having spent more than 10 years working for NFP’s in the areas of arts, mental health, and tourism.   In addition to this, I have completed post-graduate studies in Social Impact at the University of Western Australia and hold a Bachelor of Business degree.

As the incoming Executive Officer I am endeavouring over the coming weeks to speak to as many fund holders, NFP organisations, partners and supporters as I can.  In the meantime, please feel free to get in touch with me.

WA Relief & Recovery Fund:  COVID19
The Fremantle Foundation is proud to announce that we have raised over $300,000 worth of funds to support food and housing, social support and health services for people experiencing homelessness, Indigenous Australians, families on low-incomes, seniors and those heavily reliant on sectors such as the arts, who will face increased struggles because of reduced or lost income.

Over the coming four weeks we will be distributing the majority of these funds to approved service providers working in these areas.  Thank you to our major donor the Paul Ramsay Foundation and participating Named Fund holders for your generosity.

New Brand – Amplify Your Giving
We are very excited to announce the launch of our new brand identity which is both modern yet classic. The logo conveys integrity, strength, reliability, and professionalism while the colours, type, and imagery reinforce the sense of place, community, and personal approach.

The Fremantle Foundation positioning statement is “Amplify your giving”. It reinforces that Fremantle Foundation is about supporting donors to make the most impact with their giving and that we provide opportunities to connect to the community and other donors for maximum impact.

This new brand identity is a strong step forward in supporting Fremantle Foundation’s plans for growth, positioning, and focus on expanding across WA.

New Website – 10 years, 10 Stories
After months of hard work and dedication, we are delighted to officially announce the launch of our new website, which is faster, easier to navigate, and more user-friendly. The new website gives better access to About Us, Impact, Donors, Grant Seekers, Professional Advisors, Impact100, as well as an improved News and Information page.

Our new website also hosts a collection of beautifully crafted, powerful stories of impact under the theme of 10 Years, 10 Stories of impact click here to visit our new site at www.fremantlefoundation.org.au

Homelessness Week 2020
Homelessness Week ran from 2 - 8 August, this year the theme for Homelessness Week (#HW2020) was Everybody Needs a Home.

A number of our donors supported the 20 Lives 20 Homes Fremantle project through their Named Funds.

Foundation Housing currently requires one and two-bedroom units in Fremantle and surrounding areas for the 20 Lives 20 Homes Fremantle project. They offer a guaranteed income for 12 months for your rental property with no property management fees or minor maintenance costs.

Your property will be used to house a participant in this program funded by the State Government through the Department of Communities which aims to assist people in need in Fremantle to find a home and stabilise their lives. During this time, the participant will receive intensive support from St Patrick’s Community Support Centre and Ruah Community Services.

To discuss whether your property is suitable contact Kylie at Foundation Housing at kyliei@foundationhousing.org.au or phone 9422 0733 or visit www.foundationhousing.org.au

Events
The Fremantle Foundation had the privilege of attending the Danjoo Koorliny Walking Together Festival where we learned more about this incredibly important project designed and led by Aboriginal leaders Dr. Noel Nannup OAM, Dr. Richard Walley OAM, Professor Emeritus Colleen Hayward AM, and Carol Innes, as well as many other respected Elders and leaders.  This project has been created to help us all walk together towards 2029 (200 years of colonisation in Perth, Western Australia) and beyond.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the Fremantle Foundation and for caring about the community we live in.

Warm regards,

Sue Stepatschuk
Executive Officer
